Education is a key priority for Conservatives and we are not just saying that here is what we would do
1) By raising standards, improving discipline, increasing choice, and getting the best people in to teaching, we will make sure that the poorest children get the best education, not the worst.
2) It is time we made our teaching the best. That’s why we’re committed to a comprehensive programme of reform to elevate the status of teaching in our country. We want to make it the noble profession – the career path that attracts the best brains, is well-rewarded and commands the most respect.
3) We will:
· raise the entry requirement for taxpayer-funded primary school teacher training from a C grade in English and Maths GCSE to a B;
· require graduates to have at least a 2:2 in their degree in order to qualify for state-funded training;
· pay the student loan repayments for top maths and science graduates for as long as they remain teachers;
· expand Teach First and introduce two new programmes – Teach Now and Troops to Teachers – to get experienced, high-quality people into the profession;
· give all headteachers the power to pay good teachers more.

How can you truly represent the people of Caerphilly when you dont live here or have any affinity with the majority of the population. Brighton and Hove is a long way from Caerphilly and very different demographically!

What can you do for education in Wales as an MP? Education is a devolved matter.
By the way, If you are living in Gelligaer, how can you represent your ward in Brighton? Do they know?

As an MP you will not have any input into education. You may not be aware that education is devolved

I'm afraid I agree with the other comments below. There's little that Westminister candidates can campaign on in Wales that are not resposibilities devolved to the Welsh Assembly Government; in particular Health, Education and Social Care. It won't help your campaign if this doesn't seem to be clearly understood.
Andrew thank you. I'm sure you can see from the previous responses that Maria does appreciate the points that you are making. I think Maria's concern for all matters that trouble our electorate will enhance her campaign and as stated elsewhere a strong link between our prospective Conservative MP and Welsh Assembly colleagues shows a network of strength to benefit all the voters in Caerphilly
